Incentive Distribution

Incentive distribution platforms evaluated on whether an outsider can recompute a disputed allocation, who holds the budget and can still edit the list after publication, what has already gone wrong on the machinery, and what is written down about sybil defence.

What matters most before choosing in this category

Weighted on recomputable allocation (30), budget control after publication (28), incident and operator record (22), and sybil defence in writing (20). The heaviest is whether someone outside the vendor can re-derive a disputed number: eight of the nine publish no contest path at all, and the one appeal route that exists is an unbounded support ticket the same terms then disclaim. The sybil finding is starker — six of nine market a named defence and none publish a removal count or a sybil report for a real campaign. Advertised integrations are not scored anywhere.

Best forRecomputable allocation — 9/10
Main tradeoffThe friendly docs page and the Terms PDF do not say the same thing about your leftover budget. docs.merkl.xyz/distribute-with-merkl/fee-model tells you 'Campaign creators on Merkl can freely reallocate all unclaimed rewards once their campaign ends'; Art. 4 of merkl-terms.pdf (last revised 13 May 2026) says that if you have not reallocated within a year, 'Angle Labs reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to recover such unclaimed rewards in whole or in part and to reallocate, redistribute, or otherwise apply them as Angle Labs sees fit, including by reallocating them to other Merkl Campaigns, to other Recipients, to operational reserves', and 'The Incentivizor expressly waives any right to claim, recover, or be reimbursed'. Pair that with Art. 3.3 — Merkl may 'pause, suspend, modify, refuse, terminate' a live campaign at sole discretion 'with or without prior notice' — Art. 5.4, which routes every aggrieved recipient's miscalculation claim to you with an indemnity running back to Angle Labs, and Art. 6, which caps Angle Labs' liability at three months of your fees. A budget-holder who read only the docs will not have priced any of that; the one operational chore that prevents the worst of it is a calendar reminder to reallocate unclaimed rewards inside twelve months.
Verify before signupREAD ON https://docs.merkl.xyz/distribute-with-merkl/fee-model (2026-08-17): "Merkl's fees are deducted directly from the tokens deposited into the campaign." — "Standard campaign fee: 3% of distributed incentives" — "Airdrop discount: JSON-based airdrops are charged at a reduced rate of 0.5%". The degressive schedule, read on the .md source of the same page the same day: "**3%** on the first $1M distributed", "**2.25%** on amounts between $1M and $2.5M", "**1.75%** on amounts between $2.5M and $5M", "**1.5%** on amounts above $5M", plus "Merkl offers a 25% fee discount when you commit upfront to campaigns distributing more than $500k in total incentives." Point programmes are billed separately and are NOT charged a distribution fee — https://docs.merkl.xyz/distribute-with-merkl/create-a-point-program.md (2026-08-17): "Indexing campaigns are billed at **$40 per week** per point source, paid in credits. There are no distribution fees for indexing campaigns." Services are also published rather than quoted behind a form — https://studio.merkl.xyz/services/professional-services (2026-08-17): "Subscription: $3,000 per month, or $30,000 per year (two months free)."; https://studio.merkl.xyz/services/managed-campaigns (2026-08-17): "Subscription: $5,000 per month, or $50,000 per year (two months free)."; https://studio.merkl.xyz/services/autoclaim (2026-08-17): "Starter $500 5,000 $0.09 / claim", "Growth $2,500 30,000 $0.07 / claim", "Scale $5,000 100,000 $0.045 / claim", "Enterprise Custom Custom $0.02+ / claim". Standard Support is "Included for free with every Merkl client" (https://docs.merkl.xyz/distribute-with-merkl/merkl-services.md, 2026-08-17). Nothing material is unpublished except the Integration Fee, which the ToS says is negotiated: "The exact amount of the Integration Fee will be proposed to the Incentivizor who will have to either accept or reject it." (https://docs.merkl.xyz/merkl-terms.pdf, Art. 4, read 2026-08-17).

Frequently asked

Questions people ask before choosing incentives

Is this not just an airdrop tool?
Sending tokens is the easy half and every product here does it. What separates them is what happens when the list is wrong: whether an outsider can recompute a disputed allocation, who is holding the budget between funding and claiming, who can still edit the list after publication, and what stops a farm from eating it. Eight of the nine publish no contest path at all. The single appeal route that exists is an unbounded support ticket that the same terms then disclaim.
Every vendor advertises sybil protection. How do you separate them?
By what is written down and parameterised, not by the adjective. Six of the nine market a named defence, and none of the nine publish a removal count or a sybil report for a real campaign — so nobody in this pool can show you what their filter actually did. The products that score well are the ones where eligibility is criteria you set and can export afterwards, because that is a filter you can defend line by line to a recipient who is angry. A claim to minimise false positives with no number attached earns nothing here.
How much should past incidents matter when picking one?
More than the pool would like. All nine carry a dated discontinuity within the last 32 months — a rebrand, a pivot, an exploit or a change of ownership — so a clean-looking record usually means an untested one. Two have a published, quantified loss of user funds, and the larger of the two is roughly 167 times the size of the other yet appears on none of that vendor's live surfaces. Self-disclosure with a number scores above silence, which is the opposite of how the category markets itself.
