- There is no on-chain balance - "Phoenix is a pure LN wallet, all your funds are always in channels" (faq-4-onchain.md, read 2026-09-04) - and ACINQ is both the wallet's author and your only channel counterparty. Receiving is free only while inbound liquidity already exists; when it does not, the FAQ prices it at "1% + mining fees", and "By default, Phoenix will reject incoming payments if the fee is more than 5000 satoshi (or 50% of the amount)." Privacy is disclosed as no better than a custodial wallet: "We (ACINQ) know the final destination and amount of payments."
