Record watch-outs
- "You own 100 percent of your bitcoin on Cash App" is true of the Bitcoin balance, not of every Lightning payment. Pay a Lightning invoice from the Cash (USD) balance and the ToS says "you are not purchasing, holding, or controlling bitcoin and you never acquire title to or ownership of bitcoin" - Cash App owns the sats and charges 0.9%. Paying from the Bitcoin balance avoids both. Second, the exit is not always open: the Account Restrictions page lists "Buying or withdrawing bitcoin" among what a suspension blocks, and the ToS lets Block liquidate a Virtual Currency Account at its sole discretion. Lightning is unavailable to New York residents.
