TokenTaxScore 66A US Form 8949 factory with a genuine per-account (2025) basis engine and a real TurboTax handoff, wrapped around an accounting firm — but outside the US it emits an unnamed "relevant international report" the filer transcribes by hand, and the open-lot basis that report rests on cannot be exported. UPHELD verbatim: every clause of it was traced to a character-exact quote on a served page loaded 2026-08-19.Strength: Basis method fidelity — 6/10Watch-out: UPHELD, with one item added and one quote re-sourced. That the plan you bought does not produce the thing the marketing page sold, and that the real work costs more. (1) /features advertises "Form 8949, Schedule D" AND "International forms" under "Our software automatically generates every tax form you need to complete your filings—whether you file with us or a different provider, such as TurboTax.", but the help centre states "Includes information that TokenTax does not have access to for crypto-only clients. TokenTax is unable to generate this form unless we are handling your full tax return. Your tax preparer is responsible for your Schedule D." — and no page anywhere names a single international form. (2) Outside the US there is no form at all — every tier promises only an "IRS Form 8949 or relevant international report", and TokenTax's own Sweden guide tells the filer to "Log in to Skatteverket, open form K4 (D). List each disposal’s cost basis, proceeds, and result" by hand. (3) Buying the cheap tier and then importing your full history to establish basis silently burns your cap: "Import the complete historical data needed to establish accurate cost basis. Your plan's transaction allowance still applies; importing historical data does not make the plan's transaction limit unlimited." (4) Surcharges land after purchase and are published only inside the help centre, never on /pricing: "Margin Processing: This service is $399 and includes processing of margins, derivatives, and futures data.", "It is available for purchase for $49 for Basic Plan or Premium Plan holders." for FBAR, and full filing "starting at $999". (5) Even the $3,499 VIP plan is chain-limited — "At the moment, the VIP Plans include support for Layer 1 Ethereum, Polygon, and Binance Smart Chain transactions. Our engineers are continually adding support for new chains, but in the meantime, other chains may require additional fees." — and one-shot: "Additionally, we will only complete your reconciliation one time for each plan purchased. If we complete the services included in your account's plan but you later discover that you omitted some transaction data, we may ask you to purchase an additional plan." (6) None of it is refundable, and there is nothing to try first: "TokenTax does not offer refunds." (https://tokentax.co/terms), expanded in the help centre as "At TokenTax, we have a no refund policy." (https://help.tokentax.co/en/articles/1800908-can-i-get-a-refund, October 25, 2021) — while "At this time, we do not offer free trials, demos, or preview functions." (https://help.tokentax.co/en/articles/5803735-does-tokentax-offer-any-demos-or-trials, January 23, 2024). You buy blind and you cannot unwind it. (7) ADDED — three served pages disagree on who may buy the $999 full-filing add-on: the UI guide says "This service is only available for U.S.-based clients with a VIP Plan or above." and the VIP article says Full-Filing services "are available to purchase, as an add-on to our VIP Plan, or above, only.", but the plan-chooser, timestamped "Updated today", says "Full filing by TokenTax is a separate add-on available to customers who purchase any crypto tax plan; it is not included automatically and is not limited to VIP customers." and /pricing says only "This add-on is only available to customers who purchase a crypto tax plan." A Basic buyer reading the newest page believes a service two older pages gate behind $3,499 is available to them.LedgibleScore 62A US-only IRS Form 8949 generator (Verady, Inc.) whose consumer tier is alive and current for tax year 2025, but whose public site has pivoted to institutional 1099-DA reporting and whose tax help centre has gone dark on the one US rule that changed the answer — Rev. Proc. 2024-28 is not mentioned once in 277 knowledge-base articles, even though Ledgible's own institutional whitepaper explains it.Strength: Portable record and prior year access — 6/10Watch-out: The $49 is a lifetime-transaction toll, not a this-year toll, and the caps that decide your bill are published only inside a PNG. Ledgible's own words: "Pricing is based on the total number of transactions you've made from the beginning of your transaction history to the end of the current tax year date (rather than annual transactions)" (support.ledgible.io/hc/en-us/articles/4405478844045, updated 2026-08-09). A filer with eight years of history and four trades this year is priced on all eight years. The base tier is also far narrower than the pricing page admits — "The basic package starts at $49 and includes up to 2 wallets and 1 exchange in their data sources with up to 200 transactions." (article 360058705432); that 2-wallet and 1-exchange limit appears NOWHERE on ledgible.io/pricing/, whose own base-tier image says only 'Tax-year reporting and up to 200 transactions'. (The pricing page does print '2 wallets', but inside an Enterprise Accounting usage example, not as the $49 cap — do not read it as the consumer limit.) Second, the buyer arriving from the marketing site will find the automation isn't there: the FAQ says "Yes, the Ledgible Platform offers full support for DeFi and NFT trading." while the documentation says "NFT tracking isn’t done automatically on Ledgible, so tracking the activity will be best done manually.", DeFi auto-categorisation covers only Ethereum and Algorand, and "However, income cannot be automatically detected and therefore transactions that are to be taxed as such must be designated by the user." — so every staking reward, airdrop and fork is hand-labelled. Third, and most expensive to discover late: this is a US-only filing artefact whose US rulebook is stale. Rev. Proc. 2024-28 wallet-level basis allocation is not mentioned once in 277 knowledge-base articles — while Ledgible's institutional whitepaper explains the rule in detail, so the silence is in the consumer product, not in the company. The FIFO/LIFO/HIFO guidance still cites the superseded IRS Virtual Currency FAQ Q39-41, and the preparer instructions still assert crypto is 'not currently reported on 1099s' in the first Form 1099-DA season.
