Record watch-outs

The thing that will most annoy an issuer who chose OFT: the standard hands you a genuinely clean owner-held revocation — one onlyOwner peer removal, no countersignature, no vendor in the loop — and then gives you nothing to bound the damage in the window before you use it. There is no default supply cap of any kind. The rate limiter is an inherited extension you must know to look for, it is scoped per destination chain rather than per minter, and the example LayerZero publishes wires it to the send side, so it does not bound what a compromised peer causes to be minted on arrival. Your only shipped brake against a rogue mint at 3am is a delegate-held pause, which requires a human to already be awake and looking. Second, and more uncomfortable for anyone whose token is already liquid: OFT's adapter path is available to people who are not you. It requires no signature from the issuer, and the docs page that lists deployments describes adapters as "deployed and owned by asset issuers" while the largest one on the network is owned by a 3-of-5 Safe that is not the issuer of the underlying asset.

Read on https://docs.layerzero.network/v2/concepts/applications/lzasset (HTTP 200, fetched 28 September 2026), comparison table row as rendered: "Cost Service fee Gas costs only" (lzAsset = 'Service fee'; native OFT = 'Gas costs only'). The amount of that service fee is nowhere on the page, which says instead "Email bd@layerzerolabs.org with details about your asset and target chains". The issue-asset overview (https://docs.layerzero.network/crosschain/issue-asset/overview, HTTP 200, fetched 28 September 2026) adds "Deployment costs vary by chain (gas fees). Crosschain transfers cost LayerZero messaging fees (DVN + Executor fees), typically" followed by a range of one cent to one dollar typeset in KaTeX, "depending on the pathway". That range is a per-transfer messaging fee, which this category records and never grades (cross_chain_messaging cost_per_message). The OFT standard is open-source contract code documented at docs.layerzero.network with no geographic eligibility language on the standard page, the quickstart, the technical reference, the issue-asset guide or the deployments listing (all loaded 17 August 2026). The only geographic language found belongs to a third-party deployment, not to the standard, and it is the ordinary OFAC/sanctions representation rather than a regional footprint: https://usdt0.to/terms (HTTP 200, 17 August 2026), clause 2 'Eligibility' — "You further represent that you are not (a) the subject of economic or trade sanctions administered or enforced by any governmental authority or otherwise designated on any list of prohibited or restricted parties (including but not limited to the list maintained by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Department of the Treasury) or (b) a citizen, resident, or organized in a jurisdiction or territory that is the subject of comprehensive country-wide, territory-wide, or regional economic sanctions by the United States."
