Questions people ask before choosing oracles
Why does a provider with a long incident list rank well?
Because publishing incidents is evidence of a functioning disclosure practice, and silence is not evidence of safety. An oracle that documents its outages, explains what went wrong and states what changed is telling you something checkable; one with an empty page may simply not be writing them down. This page therefore separates incident transparency from the record of protocols actually exploited THROUGH the oracle, which is the harm that matters, and scores the failure-mode architecture behind both — what the feed does when sources disagree, go stale or vanish.
Is total value secured a quality signal?
Partly, and only as one. Value secured tells you an oracle has been stress-tested by people with real money at risk, which is genuine information — an unused feed has never been attacked because nobody bothered. But it measures adoption rather than design, it concentrates toward incumbents, and a large number is exactly what makes a feed worth attacking. It is scored here as adoption-as-stress-testing and deliberately weighted below the failure-mode architecture and the record of exploits that ran through the oracle itself.
What is shared-fate risk?
It is when every feed a provider serves depends on one chain or appchain staying live, so a single halt stops all of them. Per-chain isolation is scored above it.
