How this ranking works

Everything the table draws on continues here: how firm the #1 is, the per-criterion arithmetic behind each score, who pays ChainChoice, and the full guide to choosing.

Direct answer

What is the best prediction markets in 2026?

Kalshi ranks #1 overall for prediction markets on ChainChoice. CFTC-regulated US exchange, largest venue by volume, resolved centrally by the exchange itself with no…. It holds that rank under an affiliate-blind methodology scored across 4 published, weighted criteria — the code that ranks providers physically cannot read affiliate payouts (CI-enforced), so a payout can't move a rank. The verdict re-computes on every fee change, incident, or regulatory action; full reasoning and the audit receipt are below.

Best prediction markets in 2026

The best prediction market depends first on whether you can legally trade there, and then on who resolves a contested outcome. Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated US exchange with narrower listed markets; Polymarket, Limitless, SX Bet and Myriad are open venues with broader coverage and their own dispute mechanics. We rank on resolution integrity and access before liquidity and cost, because a venue can run flawlessly and still take a correct position to zero by resolving against you — and a market you cannot legally reach is not a market at all. Platform volume is shown as context, never scored.

Data checked Sep 2026
Three consumer-platform failures in five months, all during peak-demand events, all re-verified against the cited reporting. Aug 2025: 'a separate outage in August 2025 affected the full platform, including the exchange itself.' Oct 2025: 'roughly half of Kalshi's users were unable to access the app or website during Saturday college football games' while the API kept serving institutional traders and automated market makers - retail was locked out, algos were not. 8-9 Feb 2026 (Super Bowl): the payment rail failed from around 5pm and deposits were still pending in the fourth quarter; funds were debited from… Fully custodial and centrally resolved. Kalshi determines outcomes itself under its own rulebook - there is no external oracle, no public dispute market and no bond; the only user path documented is a settlement request, which 'our markets team will thoroughly review', and its settlement docs concede that some markets need 'manual review'. You are trusting one US corporate exchange's judgement with no adversarial check.

Each bar is the score on that criterion’s own 0–10 scale, never rescaled to the pool. The dark line is the best any product here reached on that axis. Wt is the most the criterion can add to the 86-point weighted total. Pts is weight × score × 32; the sum is the methodology score, and each weighted point behind the leader costs 2.6 on the displayed score. how these are weighted

8 products we looked at and left out
A shortlist is only honest if it says who it turned away. Each of these was assessed against the same published criteria as the ranked table and excluded for a stated reason — not overlooked.
We assessed 12 products here and rank 4 — 33% of what we looked at. That share is of the products we assessed, not of the category: how many exist is not something we can count, so we do not claim a number for it.

Polymarket
Largest onchain venue and the deepest book outside Kalshi - with the category's worst documented resolution…
Measurably the worst resolution record in this set. Documented false resolution, verified: 24-25 Mar 2025, 'Will Ukraine agree to Trump's mineral deal before April?' - one holder cast 5 million UMA across three accounts, about 25% of total votes, forcing a 'Yes'; the contract's odds moved from 9% to 100% and roughly $7M was paid out on an outcome that had not occurred. Live 2026 examples: 'MicroStrategy sells any Bitcoin by May 31, 2026?' ($60M in trading volume per The Defiant; note the article's own URL slug says $85M) escalated to a UMA token vote after two 'No' proposals were challenged, turning on whether… You are not buying a resolution guarantee; you are buying exposure to a token-weighted vote that documented evidence shows is concentrated and conflicted, and the proposal layer remains permissionless by Polymarket's own current documentation.

BNB Chain challenger, #3 by volume - UMA oracle risk plus a Venus lending dependency most write-ups miss
Thin by construction - live since Dec 2025. No exploit, outage, disputed resolution or failed payout could be documented as of 3 Aug 2026; that is absence of evidence on a young venue, not a proven clean record. Measurable positives: scaled from a Dec 2025 launch to $3.08B cumulative volume and $20.1M cumulative fees (DefiLlama, 14 Sep 2026), and ranked #3 by April 2026 taker volume at $579.2M across 18,553 unique users - a realistic ~$31K per user, so the flow looks like real traders rather than farmed wash volume. Measurable negatives: since Mar 2026 all new markets run on UMA's Optimistic Oracle, inheriting the identical… Two stacked dependencies rather than one. First, identical UMA adjudication exposure to Polymarket - permissionless proposals against a bond, two disputes escalating to a token-holder vote that has demonstrably been captured elsewhere - with far less operating history, no published dispute statistics and no incident record to inspect.

SX Bet
Longest-running onchain P2P sports exchange - a 1% taker fee on net profit, and a cost still dominated by the spread
The longest continuous operating history in this comparison - roughly seven years across two rebrands and a chain migration, with no exploit, extended outage or failed payout documented. That durability is the asset. Current activity is real rather than incentivised: $57.8M of 30-day volume and $979.2M cumulative as of 14 Sep 2026, with live order books confirmed directly via the public API that day, placing it above Limitless. CORRECTION to a prior inference: SX Bet was NOT relegated to the April 2026 sector report's $12.2M 'others' bucket - at $86.4M of 30-day volume on 3 Aug 2026 it could not fit inside that bucket, so it was simply… Concentration and opacity rather than solvency. Depth exists in mainstream sports lines and essentially nowhere else, so it is a specialist venue routinely miscast by listicles as a general prediction market - politics, macro and crypto markets are not meaningfully tradeable here.

Frequently asked
Questions people ask before choosing prediction markets
What is the safest prediction market?
Safety on a prediction market comes mostly from resolution, not from uptime. A venue can run flawlessly and still take a correct position to zero by resolving a contested outcome against you, so what is scored is who resolves, on what evidence, and what the dispute record actually shows.
Why is platform volume not in the ranking?
Platform volume measures how much attention a venue attracts, not whether it resolves fairly or whether you can legally use it. It is also concentrated: aggregate volume dominated by two political markets says nothing about depth in the market you actually want to trade. It is shown as a fact and never scored.
Who decides the outcome when a market is contested?
It varies, which is why resolution integrity is weighted highest at 32%. Some venues resolve against a named data source, some run a token-weighted dispute game, and some reserve the final call for themselves. Resolution is the only mechanism that can take a correct position and pay you nothing, so the dispute record matters more than the fee.
Why does regulatory access carry so much weight?
Because a market you cannot legally reach is not a market, however deep it is. Access is weighted at 26% for that reason: the ranking answers what this reader can actually trade on, not which venue is largest in the abstract.
